Giroud in jan?
I think this would be perfect for us.

I know he‘s very similar to Haller in style but I think giroud can play alongside anyone.

He’s more likely to get 1st team football here than inter Milan where they have Lukaku. I can see Man U coming in for him as well.

Re: Giroud in jan?
Since going to CFC he's had 45 league apps and scored 5 goals... it's a big fat NO from me...

Re: Giroud in jan?
Probably a very expensive back up. Much better value to be found elsewhere I should think.

Re: Giroud in jan?
I think his Chelsea record is kind of a red herring. He was 1 in 2 for arsenal and is still in french side, won a World Cup etc..

plus being, 33 I don’t think he’s going to hinder haller’s progress much. We can play him as a replacement for haller as he can hold up the ball well or as a from 2 if need be.

Expensive wages yes, but how many decent strikers with PL experience are there available?

no thanks.
he's someone we should have signed two years ago.

Yeah I’m sure he’ll be happy to sit on our bench.

threesixty 2:28 Thu Oct 17
Re: Giroud in jan?
Why would he sit on our bench?
Do you think haller will remain injury free the whole season?
Do we have another senior striker?

The only club giroud will go to we’re he will be no.1 is a crap side. Why would he do that?

Re: Giroud in jan?
If we were desperate, I suppose. I’d probably prefer a talented youngster as backup for Haller.

I suspect that Yarmo would be more useful as a striker than Giroud.

‘Why would he sit on our bench? ‘
Because he won’t get in our side ahead of Haller and would cost more in wages than Haller too.

‘Do you think haller will remain injury free the whole season?’
Quite possibly, yes.

‘Do we have another senior striker?’
We have a 22 year old Switzerland international we spent 8m on.

‘The only club giroud will go to we’re he will be no.1 is a crap side. Why would he do that?’
I don’t think he will and I imagine there could be plenty of decent sides in Europe that could offer him first team football.

Re: Giroud in jan?
Massive no from me. Way to expensive, definitely not one for the future and we have Haller.

Giroud would be an overpaid sulking disruptive c**t.

Might be that Haller is not injury free for the whole season, but that is why we should look for young hungry players. And both Antonio and Yarmo can fill the gap in emergencies.

Re: Giroud in jan?
If we knew that Haller wasn't going to be fit for a couple of months (ie. he got injured on Boxing Day) then fine. But he'll go somewhere where he'll play with the Euros coming up.

Re: Giroud in jan?
There are no young strikers who can hit the ground running in this league. We have tried that how many times?

If you want a decent striker you pay big money (Haller) or you pay for older experienced ones and deal with the problems (no sell on money, lack of pace, injuires / past their best).

thats it.

Even young up and comming and highly rated strikers arent guaranteed to work (Inneacho, look at Rashford now etc..)

So when a proven goal scorer who wants to stay in London and is still a world cup winning french international.. wants to come we say "no thanks?"

ffs!

How many Zaza's, Perez's etc.. do we want to waste our time and money on? Just pay the money and get someone in who is proven and knows how to do the job.

Someone who will help get us into European places and attract more talent in the future. It will be ridiculous if we go past Jan playing Antonio or Yarma (both not exactly strangers on the injury room) as strikers when Haller has his customary West Ham strikers "time off".

I bet we'd say no to Dzeko and Mandukic too, and get some unknown kid from Finland or somewhere and say jon done.. we never learn.

Re: Giroud in jan?
So after investing 45m on a first choice 25year old striker that has started well, you want to bring in a 33 year old striker on higher wages that has hardly played any games in the last year and doesn’t want to sit on the bench?

**Despit his faults Perez had a decent scoring record, better than Giroud last season i'd guess**

**i'd say we've come from a place where we would sign players like Giroud or Manzukic on big wages and it wouldn't work. Haller is a refreshing break from the norm**

people who are proven and know how to do the job will not join a club like our sand likely sit on the bench.

The cunt has already turned us down at least twice so he can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

We would still have to worry about non-home grown registration
numbers.

Unless we are ditching Xande Silva again. Or selling someone.

No...
High priced back up.
And he wants to play regularly...which I doubt he would with us...

Bexley Ironworks 4:03 Thu Oct 17
Re: Giroud in jan?
Not for me. He had zero interest in joining us when we were in for him before. Why would we want him now at 33?

threesixty 4:48 Thu Oct 17
Re: Giroud in jan?
Some of us on here would have kept Hernandez on for 140k a week who is no where near as good as Giroud.

He's not injury prone and the only reason he was on the bench last season is because its chelsea and they always have tons of options.

Why should a top 10 PL club only have 1 decent senior striker? Its mad.

And at 33, its not that you need to play every single week, more that you at least play! There would be no way Giroud would replace Haller, from a business point of view. But having 2 decent strikers at west ham would be a world first.

I just cant think of anyone decent with PL experience who would even look at us in Jan unless where dropping 40m or something mad.

ironsofcanada 4:54 Thu Oct 17
Re: Giroud in jan?
No proven striker, even a bit older is coming to a non-Europe playing team to sit on the bench.

Unless we throw crazy money at them. That is what we did with Hernandez, with very spotty success. That is the type of player you get.

Again we would have to make space for him, registration-wise.
